Abstract:
Formation of zinc sulfide nanoparticles was detected during interaction of bulk samples with hydrogen sulfide at supercritical parameters. Synthesis proceeds with liberation of H$_2$ by the reaction $n$Zn + $n$H$_2$S = (ZnS)$_n$ + $n$H$_2$. It has been found by the X-ray diffraction method, scanning electron microscopy, and mass spectrometry that the addition of water stimulates coupled reactions of nanoparticle synthesis $n$Zn + $n$H$_2$O = (ZnO)$_n$ + $n$H$_2$ and (ZnO)$_n$ + $n$H$_2$S = (ZnS)$_n$ + $n$H$_2$O and brings about an increase in the synthesis rate and morphological changes of (ZnS)$_n$ nanoparticles.
