Direct plasmadynamic synthesis of ultradisperse silicon carbide
A. A. Sivkov, D. S. Nikitin, A. Ya. Pak, I. A. Rakhmatullin Tomsk Polytechnic University
Abstract:
Ultradisperse cubic silicon carbide ($\beta$-SiC) has been obtained by direct plasmadynamic synthesis in pulsed supersonic carbon-silicon plasma jet incident on a copper obstacle in argon atmosphere. The powdered product has a high content of $\beta$-SiC in the form of single crystals with average size of about 100 nm and nearly perfect crystallographic habit.
