Quantum Computation and Ñhiral Edge Modes in honeycomb Kitaev model

I. L. Timoshuk

Abstract: Local Majorana zero modes serve as the basic ingredients of topological quantum computations. One can use chiral Majorana-fermion edge transport in gapped two-dimensional systems to simplify manipulations. Using the honeycomb Kitaev model in a topological phase as an example, I will show a way to transfer quantum information between external qubits, coupled to the edge, and topological edge states. I will discuss how the resulting edge states may be manipulated to perform braiding operation, and will analyze the influence of disorder and noise on properties of the edge states and the fidelity of quantum operations.
