Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the static and dynamic modulation characteristics and angular dependences of the contrast associated with the twist effect in nematic liquid crystals with low-frequency inversion of the sign of their dielectric anisotropy. It is shown that two-frequency control of the twist effect can be used as the basis of fairly fast wide-aperture switches of the plane of polarization of light.
