Fatigue fracture of glasses under laser irradiation conditions

Abstract:
An experimental study was made of the fatigue fracture of K8 optical glass as a result of pulsed laser irradiation. Irreversible changes in the glass structure, resulting in fatigue fracture, started from a certain threshold energy which was characterized by a considerable scatter in the case of commercial glass samples.
