Hybrid $CO_2$ laser with frequency-degenerate modes

Abstract: A method is proposed for simultaneous frequency selection of longitudinal and transverse modes in a hybrid $CO_2$ laser. This method is based on frequency degeneracy of the transverse modes and makes it possible to utilize effectively the active medium of the laser, which leads to an increase in the average output energy per pulse.
