Abstract:
On the basis of an analysis of experiments on interaction between laser radiation and the eyes of experimental animals, and also taking into account the optical properties of the eye, a method of calculating the maximum permissible exposure to laser radiation for the case of a single (nonchronic) exposure of the eye is proposed and substantiated. Maximum permissible exposures are given for pulse durations of $10^{10}-10^{-1}$ sec in the 0,4-1,4 $\mu m$ spectral range for an arbitrary angle of convergence of the beam, including the case of exposure to a collimated beam, for any level of adaptation of the eye.
