Helium-neon ring laser with a neon absorption cell

Abstract:
A resonance of the absorption in neon was observed in a He–Ne laser at λ = 3.39 μ. The resonance curve width was less than the radiation linewidth and the contrast was up to 20%. Such absorption resonances in a ring gas laser could be used in very-high-resolution spectroscopy.
