Amplification of electromagnetic waves in a magnetically active plasma with a nonisotropic electron velocity distribution
R. V. Karapetyan, M. V. Fedorov
Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is made of the stimulated bremsstrahlung absorption and "emission" (negative absorption) in the presence of a static homogeneous magnetic field. It is shown that collisions can result in an effective resonant amplification of electromagnetic waves in a magnetically active plasma if the average transverse electron energy is more than twice as large as the energy of electron motion along the magnetic field. Some specific cases of negative absorption under these conditions are considered.
