Synthesis and investigation of Ndx La1–xP5O14 single crystals

Abstract: Single crystals of Ndx La1–xP5O14, where x=0, 0.005, 0.5, 0.9, and 1, were synthesized. Crystal-optics and x-ray structure analyses were made and the density of these crystals was determined. The lifetime of the excited metastable state of Nd3+ was measured.. The radiative lifetime was also determined. The probability of nonradiative deactivation of the metastable state was found to be anomalously low.
