Lasers

Efficiency of a copper vapour laser with partial discharge of a storage capacitor

A. N. Soldatov, V. F. Fedorov, N. A. Yudin

Tomsk State University
Abstract: An experimental study was made of the efficiency of the excitation of active transitions in a copper vapour laser by a voltage pulse which has a steep edge and terminates at the end of a lasing pulse. The current increased in an aperiodic manner during the excitation voltage pulse. Under these conditions the efficiency of the copper vapour laser was ~9%.
