Homogeneous luminescence distribution in the active element of high-power diode-pumped quantrons

Abstract: Experimental studies and calculations of various optical schemes of transverse diode pumping of high-power quantrons of solid-state lasers with cylindrical active elements (AE) are presented. Hydrodynamic problems and geometric optics problems for quantrons with cylindrical AE with pumping sets of diode laser arrays are solved by numerical modeling. Different configurations of the pump diodes are considered and a comparative analysis of various optical circuits of quantrons is carried out. Sets of diode laser arrays operating in quasi-continuous mode are selected as sources of diode pumping. A variant of transverse pumping is considered, when assemblies from such sets of diode laser arrays (pumping arms) are arranged in a polygon around the AE along its axis. The dependences of the degree of uniformity of AE illumination on the method of arrangement of diode laser arrays on the pumping arms are investigated. By choosing the angle of inclination of the diode laser array with respect to the AE axis, the angles of divergence of radiation incident on the AE surface in directions parallel and perpendicular to the axis are selected. An optical pumping scheme for a high-power quantum electron with an optimal number of pumping arms and the location of diode laser arrays on them is proposed and implemented. The influence of the uniformity of coolant flows over different pumping arms on the distribution of absorbed pump radiation over the cross section of the active element has also been studied.
