Active elements for high-power neodymium lasers

Abstract: It is suggested that active elements in high-power neodymium-glass lasers should be in the form of funnels, of circular or rectangular cross section, with unpumped ends. Short and ultrashort (10–8–10–12 sec) pulses of 100–1000 J energy were generated by means of such active elements.
