Abstract:
An experimental study of the propagation of intense laser light in a resonant medium (sodium vapor) has revealed a scattering component which is inconsistent with the Raman scattering spectra of a three-level system in an intense laser field. Spectral and angular characteristics of this component have been studied. It is shown that the occurrence of this component can be explained by a model of a resonant four-wave mixing.
