Interaction of laser radiation with matter

Model of initiation of a surface laser plasma in the case of short formation times

Yu. M. Vas'kovskiĭ, R. E. Rovinskiĭ, B. T. Fedyushin, A. S. Filatov
Abstract: A phenomenological model is proposed for the initiation of a surface laser plasma in the case of short (of the order of or less than 5 X 10–7 s) formation times. This takes into account the dependence of the absorptivity of surface defects on their size and the local concentration of these defects. The calculated and experimental plasma formation times are compared.
