Generation of a megagauss magnetic field in a wire ring by a laser emf

Abstract:
A strong magnetic field (0.9 MG) was generated at the center of a ring-shaped wire turn when a gap in this turn was subjected to a laser-plasma emf. The dependences of the magnetic field in such a ring generator on the ring diameter and on the laser radiation energy were investigated.
