Natural fluctuations in linear quantum amplifiers
P. S. Landa, E. F. Slin'ko
Abstract:
A distributed model of a linear traveling-wave quantum amplifier is considered theoretically allowing for thermal and spontaneous fluctuations of the medium. The analysis is based on the field and the density matrix equations. Expressions are obtained for the spectrum of noise at the amplifier output. The results are compared with those obtained by a phenomenological approach. The method developed can be generalized easily to a nonlinear amplifier.
