Design of a Kerr-lens cavity

Abstract:
An investigation is reported of the parameters of a Gaussian beam in an axisymmetric cavity with the Kerr nonlinearity. A simple self-focusing model is proposed. This model is used to calculate the diameter of a beam at its waist and on the mirrors as a function of pulsed beam power. The calculations are carried out for different parameters of the cavity within its stability range and for different positions of the active element.
