Influence of phase transitions on the photoacoustic effect due to interaction of laser radiation with condensed media

Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the acoustic perturbations that appeared in absorbing condensed media when their surfaces were exposed to laser pulses. Changes in the profile of a photoacoustic pressure signal were recorded for the first time and these could be due to the melting of the irradiated substance.
