Abstract: A study was made of a tunable laser with a new active medium in the form of a chrysoberyl crystal activated with trivalent titanium ions (BeAl2O4:Ti3+). Lasing due to the 2E2T2 electronic-vibrational transition in Ti3+ was observed in the wavelength range 0.7–0.9μ when the active medium was pumped by the second harmonic of a YAG:Nd3+ laser (0.5μ).
