Abstract: An investigation was made of the nature of coupling of radiation into a thin-film waveguide by a prism with a cylindrical base. Dependences of the coupling efficiency on the dimensions and phase front of the beam were determined for different degrees of coupling of the prism to the film. The experimental results were compared with calculations. A study was made of the coupling of radiation into a variable-thickness waveguide.
