Chain mechanism for the excitation of a cw HF chemical laser with a cylindrical nozzle grid
A. A. Stepanov, V. A. Shcheglov
Abstract:
The characteristics of a cw HF chemical laser with a cylindrical nozzle grid, excited by a chain mechanism, are investigated and the energy capabilities are analyzed by solving Navier-Stokes equations for a chemically reactive mixture (in the boundary-layer approximation) allowing for vibrational and radiative kinetics. It is shown that an optimal ring model geometry with chain pumping, has the following advantages: 1) the thermal effect is neutralized substantially and higher static pressures are achieved in the resonator zone; 2) extremely high specific laser energy parameters are obtained; 3) the efficiency of the laser energy system as a whole is improved appreciably.
