Gradient barochromatography
M. S. Vigdergauz Samara State University
Abstract:
We describe the gradient barochromatography method, in which the eluent plays an active as well as a transport role, and thus offers an increased resolving power. The effect of the nonideality of the mobile gas phase, determined by its nature and pressure, on the retention and spreading of the chromatographic bands is examined, together with the prospects of controlling the selectivity of the column and the degree of separation of the sorbates. Special attention is paid to the role of the pressure gradients and of the velocity of the gas, including discontinuous changes in work with composite columns. The prospects of the practical application of gradient barochromatography to the identification of the components of complex mixtures and to the control of the chemical composition of various types of sample are examined. The bibliography includes 81 references.
