Direct fluorination of fullerenes

Data on the synthesis of a new class of fluorocarbon compound, fluorofullerenes, by reactions of C₆₀, C₇₀, their mixtures and higher fullerenes with molecular fluorine are surveyed. The physicochemical and thermodynamic properties are presented for pure C₆₀F₄₈, which is the only compound formed selectively in direct fluorination of C₆₀, and for fluorofullerene mixtures.
