Abstract: Reactions of aromatic Schiff bases with alkenes affording substituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines are reviewed. The synthetic potential and the mechanisms of reactions and the effect of catalysts and solvents on the stereochemistry of products are considered.
