Abstract:
This review deals with the theoretical foundations of the methods of thin-layer electrochemistry (chronopotentiometry, voltammetry, and the steady-state current method), and with the application of these methods to the measurement of rate constants of electrochemical reactions, to the study of adsorption, and to the determination of diffusion coefficients, number of electrons involved in the reaction, etc. The scope of the methods of thin-layer electrochemistry, and their advantages in specific cases over alternative methods of studying electrode processes, are discussed. 53 references.
