Abstract:
Information on the structure of organometallic compounds of zinc, cadmium, and mercury published up to 1973 is summarised. Detailed consideration is given to true organometallic compounds, containing a metal–carbon bond. Compounds in which a carbon atom (hydrocarbon radical) is separated from the metal atom by a heteroatom are mentioned only for comparison, and no systematic description of their structures is given. The Review covers results obtained by X-ray and neutron diffraction, gas-phase, electron diffraction, and in part microwave and Raman spectroscopy. A list of 90 references is included.
