Abstract:
The progress in the synthesis of polymers containing sulfonic and phosphonic acid groups by polymer-analogous transformations is analysed. Two key methods for the introduction of these groups are considered, namely, metallation of the original polymers followed by functionalisation and modification of reactive fragments of macromolecular chains. Special concern is focused on the properties of polymeric materials obtained.
