Abstract:
Data for the interaction of transition metal complexes (TMC) with aprotic acids, in which the TMC play the role of bases, are examined and reactions, in which the centre of the basicity of the TMC is the transition metal atom, and the ligands are discussed. The influence on the basicity of the central atom of its position in the Periodic System and of its ligand environment as well as the influence of the structure of the complex and the nature of the aprotic acid and the medium on the formation of donor-acceptor complexes between TMC and electron acceptors are considered. A systematic account is given of data for the interaction of TMC with various classes of acceptors: metal and non-metal halides, halogens, alkyl halides, metal cations, π-acids, and one-electron oxidants. The bibliography includes 136 references.
