Polymerisation Filling by the Method of Radical Polymerisation as a Procedure for the Preparation of Composite Materials
S. S. Ivanchev, A. V. Dmitrenko "Plastpolymer" Joint Stock Company, Leningrad
Abstract:
Studies devoted to the polymerisation of monomers in the presence of dispersed fillers are surveyed. Attention is concentrated on systems where polymerisation accompanied by the formation of a chemical bond between the polymer matrix and the filler takes place. Procedures for polymerisation filling and the preparation of filled polymer compositions are described systematically and analysed; the characteristics and general features of radical polymerisation initiated from the surface of the solid phase, usually from the surfaces of dispersed inorganic fillers, are discussed. Cases of improvement of the physicochemical and operational properties of compositions resulting from the formation of the chemical bond between the polymer matrix and the filler are examined. The bibliography includes 127 references.
