Kinetics of the Recombination of Radicals and Radical-ions in the Liquid Phase

Kh. S. Bagdasar'yan

Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry, Moscow
Abstract: The present state of the theory of the recombination of radicals and radical-ions is described on the basis of the diffusion gradient approach and in terms of the approximation of homogeneous chemical kinetics. The experimental data on the cage effect and on the kinetics of the geminate and volume recombination of radicals and radical-ions are discussed within the framework of the methods indicated. Particular attention is devoted to the influence of the viscosity of the medium on these processes. Spin effects in radical and radical-ion pairs and their influence on the recombination kinetics in the absence and presence of an external magnetic field are considered.
