Federal Research Center of Problems of Chemical Physics and Medicinal Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Chernogolovka, Moscow region
Abstract: The review presents the results of studies on autowave processes of filtration combustion in counterflow systems. Specific features of these processes are described. Considerable attention is paid to mathematical modelling of combustion waves in counterflow systems and to stability analysis of filtration combustion waves. Accompanying processes including pyrolysis, evaporation and condensation of both the initial components and combustion products are considered. The applicability of filtration combustion in counterflow systems in the technologies for energy production from low-grade fuels and various kinds of waste and for extraction of metals from nontraditional sources is discussed. The bibliography includes 129 references.
