Metal-complex catalysis of the polymerisation of α-olefins

The progress in the development and application of metal-complex catalysis in the polymerisation of α-olefins during the last ten years is reviewed and evaluated. The methods of modifying previously known catalytic systems are characterised and the experimental results of studies on novel types of catalysts, including Ti–Mg, metallocene, lanthanide, and ylide systems are reported. Some views about further improvement of the activity and stereospeciflcity of metal-complex catalysts in relation to the chemistry of polyolefins are stated.
