Ice Situation and Safe Navigation Monitoring System on the Northern Sea Route Based on Intelligent GIS

Abstract: In this paper we discuss the problem of ice situation in the Arctic and safe navigation monitoring system development for the Northern Sea Route with application of intelligent geoinformation system. Case study illustrates the adjustment of the ship route on the part of the Northern Sea Route in accordance with the ice situation using the developed monitoring system.
