The incomplete reflection of X-rays from the surface of single crystals and the behaviour of penetrated beams in Bragg’s case
M. A. Navassardian, G. R. Petrossian Faculty of Physics, Yerevan State University
Abstract:
It has been shown experimentally that in contrary to the statements of dynamic theory only partial (incomplete) reflection of X-ray radiation takes place from the surface of perfect single crystals in the case of X-ray diffraction (in symmetric Bragg case). The maximum reflection percentage was not more than 35$\%$. In case of diffraction four wave fields generate, which propagate along the directions of reflection and penetration as well as along reflecting atomic planes. High reflection percentage was obtained in case of asymmetric reflection and near the grinded side face of etched samples. Atomic planes of ten crystals have been used with good reflecting power. For measurements previously monochromotized MoK$_{\alpha}$ and CuK$_{\alpha}$ radiations have been applied.
