Transmission of detonation wave throgh cloud of particles

Abstract: The detonation suppression by a throwing of inert small solid particles in a reactive gas mixture was investigated. The pattern of detonation flow appearance and suppression scenario were determined. The suppression conditions were found. The minimum length of the clouds / particulate filter, which completely extinguishes the detonation wave, was calculated. The effect of particles volume fraction change in the cloud on the efficiency of the detonation suppression was investigated. It was shown that main parameters are not only a particles mass and their volume fraction gradient, but the length of the cloud which extinguishes the ignition-combustion wave, formed by the decay of a detonation wave. It was shown that the length of cloud for various configurations of the particles volume fraction distribution is about the same.
