Abstract: The method of initial strains studied the effect of the thickness of the hardened layer on the distribution of residual stresses in the hub. It is founded that the thickness of the deformed layer has a significant influence on the distribution of residual stresses in the stress concentrator.
Keywords: residual stress, initial deformation, surface hardening, a flat detail with stress concentrator.
