Matrix inversion and the solution of systems of linear and non-linear equations by the method of bordering

Abstract: The method of bordering and the Gauss–Jordan method for matrix inversion are shown to be identical. Some consequences of this face are discussed. An algorithm for solving systems of linear equations by the method of bordering is proposed, along with a modification of Newton's method for the non-linear case.
