Optimal control of road traffic

Abstract: A deterministic idealization of the problem of road traffic control is studied. The model is built around hydrodynamic analogies; the control variables characterize control actions on the operation of on-ramp blows, speed and lane changing. Following a natural discretization the problem can be handled by theory of optimal discrete control.
