Abstract: An efficient thiocyanation of indoles by grinding with ammonium thiocyanate and hypervalent iodine reagents under solvent-free conditions has been developed. The reaction proceeded rapidly to provide the target 3-thiocyanatoindoles in 75–86% yields.
Keywords: thiocyanation, grinding, solvent-free, indole, hypervalent iodine(III) reagent, ammonium thiocyanate.
