Abstract: The electric conductivity of a gas mixture as a possible working medium for a magnetohydrodynamic generator (a minor amount of cesium or potassium in argon and molecular hydrogen) is calculated in the $1000$$5000$ K temperature range at a constant pressure of $1$ atm. The advantages of molecular hydrogen as a possible buffer gas for magnetohydrodynamic generators are discussed.
