Plasma Investigations
Growth of a nanosecond discharge in a conical shell
R. Kh. Amirov, E. I. Asinovskii, I. S. Samoilov Institute for High Temperatures, USSR Academy of Sciences
Abstract:
Studies have been made on a nanosecond high-voltage discharge designed to produce a nonequilibrium plasma having an electron concentration of $10^{11}$–$10^{12}$ cm$^{-3}$ in a cone. Electron-optical studies and UHF measurements show that there are existence ranges for a homogeneous form of discharge in air. There is a similarity to the growth of wave breakdown in long screened tubes.
