Investigation of the insulating wall of the channel of a continuous magnetohydrodynamic generator

Abstract: A study was made of the properties and the development of the construction of the modular insulating walls of the channel of a continuous magnetohydrodynamic generator. Dependences of the characteristics of the discharge between the modules on the temperature of the plasma were obtained, as well as the dependence of the resistance of the insulation on the construction of the intermodular gap. Guidelines for design of modular walls to attain the required dielectric strength of a continuous magnetohydrodynamic generator are formulated.
