Vladimir A. Kovalev is a well-known specialist in asymptotic methods for the thin-walled elastic and thermo-viscoelastic constructions dynamics, mathematical modelling of mechanics dynamical problems, thermomechanics of solid deformable bodies. He has over 250 scientific articles in leading Russian and foreign journals in different areas of mechanics, mathematical physics and mathematical modelling.

In 1974 V.A. Kovalev graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, in 1974-1977 he was a post-graduate student of Mechanics Department of the Faculty. In 1982 V.A. Kovalev defended a thesis in 01.02.05 specialty (Fluid, Gas and Plasma Mechanics) in dissertation committee of Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University and in 2002 he defended a doctoral thesis “Development of Asymptotic Models of Acoustic Waves Scattering by Elastic Cylinders and Spheres Problems” in 01.02.04 – deformable solid mechanics in dissertation committee of Saratov State University. In 2007 he obtained an academic status of professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. From 1977 till 2005 A.V. Kovalev worked in Moscow State University of Instrument Engineering and Informatics as teaching assistant (1977-1982), senior teacher (1982-1984), assistant professor (1984-2003) and full professor (2003-2005) in Advanced Mathematics Department. From 2005 he works as head of Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (2005-2013) and then as professor in Moscow City Government University of Management.

V.A. Kovalev has exposure to the different contract works in applied mathematics and informatics. In 2009-2011 he was a head of RFBR grant “Development of Basis of Calculation of Creating, Dynamic Deformation and Wear Processes of Thin-Walled Thermo-Viscoelastic Constructions and Coverings”. From 2010 till nowadays he is a performer of RFBR grants and Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation projects. V.A. Kovalev contacts with the leading scientific centers in Russia and Europe.

Vladimir Aleksandrovich is a full member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, member of Russian National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, member of editorial boards of some scientific journals, including “Journal of Samara State Technical University, Ser.
