The $p$-convexity functor and maximal $L_p(X)$-norms

We describe a construction which transforms any $L_p(X)$-norm on a normed space $E$ into a $p$-convex one. Applying this construction to the projective tensor norm gives an explicit formula for the maximal $p$-convex $L_p(X)$-norm on $E$.
