On points in projective spaces and factoriality of certain varieties

We will consider finite subsets in projective space. Following the works of Ivan Cheltsov, I will explain when a configuration of points imposes independent linear conditions on hypersurfaces of a given degree. Afterwards, we will discuss how these results are applied to prove the factoriality of certain nodal threefolds.
