Holographic Quantum Chromodynamics

Abstract: We will introduce the fundamental principles of the holographic approach to quantum chromodynamics (QCD)—the theory of strong interactions. This method is particularly powerful in regimes where conventional coupling-constant perturbation theory fails. These include the large-distance regime, where the holographic approach naturally explains quark confinement, as well as environments of high temperature, density, and strong magnetic fields.
We will consider holographic models of QCD based on solutions of five-dimensional Einstein's equations. These models demonstrate both first- and second-order phase transitions. The behavior of key physical observables near these phase transitions and the connection with current and planned experiments will be discussed.
