Categorical approach to algebraic geometry

In the study of geometry of an algebraic variety, most of interesting geometric objects are represented by coherent sheaves or complexes of coherent sheaves, hence, by objects of the derived category of coherent sheaves. Thus, the study of geometry of a variety reduces to the study of its derived category and leads to the categorical point of view on geometric problems. I will talk about the most important results obtained in this direction.
