Abstract: We consider upper and lower estimates for the «upper tails» of the distribution of studentized span for a sample from a two-dimensional spherically symmetrical normal universe. This result may be applied to the approximation of critical values in a problem of detection of outstanding observations and/or non-uniformity of dispersions.
